Sean John Clothes: Cool New Fashion Designs

By Julian Kwandez

Sean Combs founded his clothing line, Sean John Clothing in 1998 with the idea of creating a fashion brand for every aspect of life. His clothing line is marked by sophistication that is targeted for the urban market. But the Sean John Clothing line is of such superior quality and stylish that the fashion brand appeals to more than just the urban market.

Based in New York City, Sean John Clothing has received critical and commercial success. Comb's clothing line has gone from an urban label to an international brand thanks to the support of both the fashion community and retailers. While Combs was building his line, he was looking to reflect his own diverse style.

Geared to men of all ages, Sean John clothing includes shirts, jeans, hoodys, jackets, suits, and the signature fragrance Unforgivable. A women's clothing line was later added to the brand which has become the essence of trendy in the world of urban, pop, and hip hop clothes.

In 2000 Sean Combs was nominated for the Council of Fashion Designers of America Award as menswear designer of the year for the Sean Jean line. Although Marc Jacobs won the award that year, this nomination pushed Sean Combs into a very privileged category with other famous designers. He was nominated again in 2001.

The artist has said that he owes all of his motivation to his family. His grandmother, who was a seamstress in Harlem, taught him the fundamentals of sewing. His mother, who had given herself the title of "shopaholic", gave him the inspiration and vision to someday create his own clothing line. His uncle George, who had a flair for style, taught Combs to be fashion savvy.

Hip hop clothing designers have staked a claim in today's fashion. Urban clothing has evolved over the years to include a wide variety of styles. Hip hop music has spread and inspired listeners of all colors and backgrounds, and the clothing lines have spread just as fast. Today, anyone can wear urban clothes and look great. - 29871
