By Kevin Lawrence

Silver necklace designs have created an extraordinary fashion statement in today's industry and the whole world has celebrated this new found passion in so many silver jewelry ideas that gives justice to the remarkable luster of silver as an accessory or as simple household silverware.

There're just several things which could be done along with the silver at present apart from wearing it to compliment the outfit and giving a total novel fashion statements which reflects the originality of a person's unique character. However, like any of the other metal, silver even undergoes defilement. Hydrogen sulphur elements or sulphur compounds which exist in atmosphere could react with the silver and give rise to the some chemical reaction which brings forth staining. However, fine maintenance and storage of the silver product could guarantee one a lifetime priceless and shinning beauty.

It is wise to keep these silver jewelries well away from chemicals such as ammonia, alcohol, bleach products, turpentine and nail polish removers and other hard objects that might cause irreparable damage to the silver item. Also refrain from spraying perfumes or hairsprays after you have put on your silver jewelries as this might cause another unprecedented chemical reaction.

Silver items should be stored in cloth or at least a separate jewelry box in order to protect them from damage from scratches and from falls. Never store silver jewels or silverware in paper product like cardboard boxes or wood surfaces. Also do not store them in polyvinyl plastic bags as they emit sulphur which will only damage your prized possessions.

Your silver necklace or any other silver jewelries that are meant to be worn should be used frequently to avoid tarnishing of the material and keep away from just leaving it lying around because not so many people are aware that the atmosphere inside our homes is filled with a lot of chemical compounds that are residues of the many different products we use each day.

Oxidation of silver products are hastened in the presence of moisture and heat so be sure that you do not store or leave any of your silver belongings in places where heat and moisture can readily appear. The best storage would be in air tight containers that are specially made of polyethylene bags or Mylar.

Sterling silver jewelries require lesser maintenance but regular cleaning can do wonders to the sheen and quality of your silver ornament. Regular usage and cleaning are the simplest way to prevent tarnish, and sterling silver products require easy cleaning process that takes only about a couple of minutes to do.

If you just can not spare the time to clean your silver jewels then you do not have to fret. Some manufacturers have thankfully created self built in protection system in your silver jewels. These silver products are commonly waxed or covered with a layer or pure silver or other suitable coatings and also sometimes with expensive coatings of rhodium. You can not only choose from the multitudes of silver designs but also from new kinds of silver making which is resistant to tarnishing and damage for many years. - 29871
