Are you thinking of marriage and want to find the Jeweler who can offer you the most perfect diamond? On the other hand, perhaps you are searching for the best birthday or Christmas gift and need a jeweler who can guide you through the jewelry buying experience. Whether you are searching for a new purchase, need to replace a new setting for a gemstone or re-size a ring, finding the best jewelers for you is essential. Finding a good jeweler can make the difference between buying a treasured jewel or purchasing a piece of junk jewelry.

You want a jeweler you can trust whether you are looking to make a new purchase or you want to reset a gemstone in a new setting or even have a ring re-sized for a better fit. Finding a jeweler you can trust will make the difference in spending your money on treasured jewels that are worn or something tossed forgotten to the back of the jewelry box. By following several easy steps you can find a good local jeweler much easier than you may have considered. These are the secrets of finding a good jeweler.

Begin your search for a jewelry store or jeweler by asking around to your family, friends and associates. Listen to them as they have recently made a jewelry purchase that is impressive. Make a list of the names that they may give you to help you find the best jeweler. Keep asking until you have three, four or even five names of jewelers. Then begin refining the search until you find one that suits your specific needs for a jeweler. Check for standards of quality by making sure your chosen list of jewelers are affiliated with the AGS which is the American Gem Association and or the JVC which is the Jewelers Vigilance Committee.

The AGS requires that the Jewelers test yearly to maintain the highest levels of product knowledge to maintain their membership. There are very strict ethical standards regarding pricing and representation of products associated with the approval of the AGS to the jewelry clientele. As a nonprofit organization JVC aids jewelers in maintaining high ethical standards while keeping members current on all jewelry industries legal rules.

Remember, not all reputable jewelers may be members of either of these organization in which case you should do a bit more research to learn how long the jeweler or jewelry store has been in business at its current location. It is possible that some of the jewelers on your list may be such. Therefore, you may consider that an established jeweler having a business in the same location for years is doing good business or they would not keep good customers for years.

Keep in mind though that not all reliable jewelers are members of either of these organizations and if none of the ones on your list belongs to either organization then look at how long the business has been operating in the community. If a jeweler has been in business in the same location for a good number of years, then they are obviously doing something right or they would not be able to attract customers.

Once you have narrowed your choice of jeweler down to one or two then visit the store. Take the time to look around and ask a couple of important questions. One question to ask if there is a bench jeweler on site for repairs. This means that should anything go wrong with the jewelry you purchase it can be repaired right at the store and not sent somewhere else. You can also ask if the jewelry store has an appraiser on site or a certified gemologist on staff. Finding the right local jeweler make take a little time and effort but in the end, having a jeweler you trust will be worth it. - 29871
