Christmas Is Coming, Buy Her The Perfect Gift

By Isabela Armeli

Christmas is coming. If you are anything like me, no matter the time of year, Christmas is coming. I always get a slightly panicky feeling when I think about this.

There are people in my family that are easy to shop for. Our children's tastes change each year, but like most kids, they always begin making their Christmas list in May and continuously change it until December. I never have to think about what they want because they tell me exactly. Other family members can be extremely challenging to shop for and my husband is no exception.

My husband and mother in law are near impossible to shop for. The normally always end up taking back their gifts and exchanging them more often than they keep them. They are the people who are behind the creation of gift receipts and I make sure to leave their gift receipts in with the card.

It has gotten to the point where I buy them anything at a certain price, not caring what it is because I know they will return it for something else. Why should I spend the time and effort choosing that perfect gift when they will just return it?

Well imagine, then, my dismay when my mother in law asked me to buy her jewelry for this coming Christmas. My heart jumped into my stomach. I do not want to buy my mother in law jewellery that she'll just exchange. I want to wow her with my purchase and be completely overwhelmed with my intelligent and well researched decision regarding her jewelry.

As I dug through her jewelry box wondering where in the world all of this jewelry came from, I realised most of it was of lower quality. I took two necklaces out and decided to replace them with actual gold jewelry rather than gold plated.

After a quick search online, I found the perfect jewellery shop. I purchased two necklaces; a gold chain and a chain with a ruby pendant. I was so excited about the purchase, how easy it was, and the great price, I gave them to my mother in law as soon as they arrived, rather than waiting for Christmas.

She was not only thrilled, but she had no desire to return or exchange the items and threw out her old gold plated jewelry. It has been a double score for me! I'll be purchasing her actual Xmas present, as well as my sister's gift here too. - 29871
