Twilight" Fashion: Dress Like Alice Cullen

By Gail Mardew

Unless you've been hiding under a rock since last year at the very least, you have surely heard of Stephenie Meyer and her vampire romance series the Twilight Saga. Having been adapted to the big screen last year, "Twilight" had become a huge box office success and a household name.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson top billed the successful movie and brought to life the unorthodox love story which ensnared the romantic fantasies of teenage girls, and even several moms. Though it has been heavily criticized has much as it was widely loved, anyone can see that its popularity has made an impact on pop culture and influenced music, dating, literature, and of course fashion.

A lot of young girls adore the clothes worn by Alice Cullen, played by actress Ashley Greene in the movie adaptation. While Bella sported the conventional sweatshirts, plaids and jeans, and Rosalie Cullen wore sophisticated tailored coats, Alice's wardrobe is light, youthful, stylish and most importantly, quite easy to imitate.

One of the most popular scenes is when the Cullen family is being introduced to the audience. In it Alice wears a black and white ensemble that is casual and very feminine. It is a suitable reflection of her bubbly and spunky personality. This is how the girls who imitate her style would like to look like.

In the scene Alice wears a black tailored vest over a white blouse. The vest is buttoned up in front and is of shorter length than the white blouse. The blouse itself has a high neckline but with a couple of the top buttons left open to display a dainty black choker around her neck.

Alice also wore a casual gray jeans that is of perfect fit and sets off her hips nicely. Along with the snug tailored vest which gave the impression of a smaller waist, the outfit emphasized her shapely figure. She had on simple, black flat shoes that went very well with the rest of the outfit and made it look more young and playful. Because the setting is in the rainy town of Forks, Alice also had on a long, crocheted white sweater-jacket with wide bell sleeves.

Alice is described in the book to be of small frame and rather pixie-like. The outfit makes Actress Ashley Greene look small enough to fit the part. She also looks spunky yet stylish, and that's something that every girl would like to achieve.

A crocheted long sweatshirt jacket is admittedly not easy to find in the market. A wide sleeved crocheted sweatshirt is luckily easier to find. The rest of the outfit is not difficult to look for. A pair of gay jeans and black flats can be found at department stores. A black tailored vest is also a common item at boutiques. - 29871
